Memorial Day honors Americans who died serving their country in wars. It is commemorated annually on the last Monday in May. There are many ways to commemorate those who gave their lives, and one of them is to wear their uniform’s colors. If you are looking to give a gift to a veteran on Memorial Day, you can’t go wrong with clothing sporting the American flag.

Several cities claim to have instituted Memorial Day, but in 1966 Congress declared Waterloo, New York, as the birthplace of the holiday.

Memorial Day originally paid tribute to military personnel who died in the Civil War (1861-1865).

Today, it honors all those who have died in a war in the service of the United States. It was also called Decoration Day.

May 5, 1866 – Residents of Waterloo, New York, celebrate a Memorial Day in honor of all those who died during the Civil War. Businesses closed and soldiers’ graves were decorated.

1868 – General John Alexander Logan officially proclaims May 30, 1868, as Memorial Day in honor of Union soldiers who died in the Civil War. Until after World War I, southern states celebrated a separate Memorial Day in honor of Confederate dead.

1971 – Congress declares Memorial Day a national holiday to be celebrated on the last Monday in May.

December 28, 2000 – President Bill Clinton signs the “National Moment of Remembrance Act,” designating 3:00 p.m. local time on Memorial Day each year as the National Moment of Remembrance.

Types of clothing you can gift

While you may think you’re being original by giving someone a gift that’s not clothing, you might be in for a surprise. Clothing is an extremely common gift, since it’s something that we all wear.

However, that clothing can take many forms, from casual T-shirts to formal dresses. This guide will help you narrow down your options, so that you can gift the right kind of clothing to the right kind of person.

What colors to gift

First, you need to visit our clothing store and buy a gift for your friend or family. You need to be very thoughtful, so you need to decide what colors you absolutely need to gift. For example, you want to give a gift to your friend who loves black. You should know that he’s not big on other colors, so you need to gift something that’s black. Therefore, you need to first decide what color the gift should be and then purchase it. Anyway, red, blue and white are the preferred colors for this holiday.
